Log-on to a whole new world at IT event
People wanting to learn more about surfing the web are being encouraged to drop-in to a free IT awareness day taking place in Birmingham this week.
The event, to mark national Get Online Week, will take place at Ashram Housing Association’s Ghulab Ashram scheme in Hall Green on Thursday 3 November from 9.30am to 11.30am and 2pm to 4pm.
Open to local people who have little or no experience of using computers, the drop-in style sessions will introduce beginners to PCs and explain what they can use the internet for.
Each person who attends the event at the Whisley Brook Lane scheme will also be able to sign up to a free computer course scheduled to take place at the scheme next year.
Sam Burrows, who works for Ashram and organised the event, said: “Computers can be used for so many different things and are much easier to get to grips with than people think.
“These sessions will show just what computers can be used for and if people think it’s for them they can sign up to a full course taking place next year.”
National Get Online Week takes place from 30th October to 6th November and aims to help people get to grips with computers and the internet.
