Our work

Ashram provides housing and a wide range of other services with a community focus, including care and support, in the Midlands.

We constantly monitor our services to ensure that they are of the highest quality and we ask for feedback from our customers to make sure that we are clear about how our services are received. We also look for new opportunities where we believe we can offer something new and improved and retain the ethos of localness, community cohesion and working in partnership.

If you are interested in working with us, you can find details of current employment opportunities and apply online in the Jobs area of the Group’s website.

Examples of our community programmes include refuge and support for women and children experiencing domestic violence, with practical and emotional support combined with assistance in moving on, such as finding school places and developing financial and language skills.

Bend It Like Birmingham is Ashram’s sports inclusion project, providing varied sports opportunities, leadership training and coaching qualifications for adults and children of all backgrounds.

Ashram has also worked with national and international bodies to produce several pieces of theatre exemplifying some of our key characteristics: engagement, cultural sensitivity, innovation and partnership.

Barbershop magazine, aimed at black and ethnic minority men, fights mental health stigma and encourages discussion of and constructive attitudes towards male mental health issues in the community.

Ashram also runs the Centre for Urban Design, Outreach and Skills (CUDOS), which offers training courses for Birmingham residents who have no previous experience in urban design, and who have in many cases minimal educational experience in any area.
